This is a two inch hexy quilt using Kaffe Fasset fabrics and I sew these babies together without the papers in, after I have made them and pressed front and back. sew together with a very fine whip stitch.

 This beauty is called 'Big Wedding' from Kathy Doughty's book. For all your who think I am slack with my blog, and yes I am, I have also made eight quilts this year, four of which are quilted, two by me. I also have three other quilts that are about the half way mark.

My shed through all of this has been and organised dung heap.

1930's Quilts.

 These are are from the 1930's. I bought them as tops and have repaired where necessary with original fabric, which I just happen to have. I have also machine quilted. These quilts get used not stuck away in cupboards. Just love the colours which are a complete opposite to the depression era from which they came. They bring such joy.

 These fabulous quilts were on display in Brouage on my recent trip to France.

 A plaza in Nantes. At the time not sure what was ordered as I don't read French. How ever what came was a choc muffin when cut open oozed chocolate served with coffee ice-cream. Thought I had died and gone to heaven.

I dug this yummy quilt out of the cupboard yesterday. When I first bought the friendship blocks there were not sewn as a quilt top and were very uneven I unpicked everything and resized all the pieces and hand stitched it all back together into the top you see in the top photo. I have also hand quilted.
The blocks were originally hand pieced in the 1940's by a group of women in North and South Carolina. Many of whom embroidered their names.

The hexagon quilt and the vases were part of the displays at the quilt show in Nantes just recently. I would have liked to have been able to have packed the vases up to bring home.

This is one of my new quilts I have been teaching this year called "Freedom Train North."
It is based around the code used by escaping slaves.

I am back from the dead and also back from France. I saw these amazing quilts at a place called Brouage. It is a walled town from the 17th century. The quilts are copies of old quilts and all hand made. A fascinating place and just perfect for old quilts.
